Nick Tinoco
Biography
Nick is a Phd student in sociology at UCLA interested in environmental sociology, climate mobilities, disaster displacement, and qualitative methods. Currently, his work focuses on wildfire recovery and preparedness efforts in Los Angeles, County following the 2018 Woolsey Fire. His research primarily looks to examine how wildfire survivors make recovery decisions about whether to return and rebuild, the lived-experience of short-distance disaster displacement, and the preparedness strategies that emerge at the neighborhood and city levels in response to wildfire.
