Research Interests
Prior to UCLA, my research focused on Time Use, the Internet, and the Digital Divide. My current research focuses on the evolution of tax politics since the 19th century, developing a sociology of savings, and understanding the rise and popularity of what have been termed "Alternative Financial Institutions", such as pawn shops, payday loan stores, rent-to-own centers, and the like.
