Application Deadline and Procedures
The deadline for applying for the following fall quarter is December 1. Applicants must submit electronically a completed Graduate Division Online Application which can be found at https://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/newapp/. There are no paper applications or supplemental departmental forms. For additional information about graduate studies and admission at UCLA visit http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu and http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/gasaa/admissions/applicat.htm.
All supporting materials, including the relevant forms printed from the online application site must be received no later than December 15 at the following address:

For an application to be reviewed by the admissions committee we must have the following materials supporting materials:
1. Two official sealed transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended. The transcript request form provided by the Graduate Division is optional.
2. Supplementary information form.
3. Statement of Purpose, not to exceed three typewritten double-spaced pages, attached to the completed Statement of Purpose form. Applicants may include a C.V. or resume and refer to it in the Statement of Purpose form.
4. Three sealed letters of recommendation. The cover sheet printed from the online application should be attached to the actual letter of recommendation.
5. Official report of the general GRE scores. The institution code for UCLA for the GRE is 4837, the department code is 2102.
6. TOEFL score if applicable. The institution code for UCLA for the TOEFL is 4837 and the department code is 96.
7. A writing sample.
8. Cross-reference sheet only if applicable.
If you want to be considered for campus-wide restricted fellowships (e.g., Eugene Cota Robles fellowship, FLAS fellowships), complete the online fellowship application form and mail any supplemental forms and information that are required for the fellowship for which you are applying directly to the above address.
Files that remain incomplete by the time the admissions committee begins reviewing applications will not be reviewed. Applicants will be notified via email soon after December 15 about the status of their applications. The department does not maintain information for the Check Application Status maintained by the Graduate Division Admission’s Office.
